Happy New Year! SUDS on the 15th
We’re looking forward to great things in 2013. We’re going to shift to quarterly events this year so we can continue bringing together the area’s most active entrepreneurs, technologists, investors and folks interested in the local startup scene. We’d like to think of SUDS as a casual way to grab a drink and knock out 3-4 conversations in an hour that you’d otherwise have to schedule 3-4 separate meetings to accommodate.
Our first get together in 2013 will be at the loft at Amendment XXI on January 15th. Several groups here in town have stepped up to sponsor the event, so we’re happy to offer complimentary heavy hors d’oeuvres. To help us plan for food, please take a few seconds to register for the event here. With your registration, you’ll also receive a printed name tag and a ticket for a free drink.
Also new to the 2013 SUDS format will be a small amount of structure—each quarter, we’ll pull together a short program to add fresh content to the mix. This quarter, three local startups— Straight to Ale, transOMIC technologies and ArchPatent – will each take 10-15 minutes to tell their founder’s story.

Huntsville SUDS in 2013
With the holidays coming up, we’re going to take off November and December and kickoff 2013 with a bang in January!
We’ll circulate more details as they’re confirmed, but next year we’re going to experiment with the structure of SUDS to continue offering valuable networking events for Huntsville’s startup community. Some of the changes we’re currently considering for next year:
- Adding 15-20 minutes of content to each event (startup pitches, investor presentations, guest speakers, etc.)
- Shifting from monthly to quarterly gatherings
- Adding food to the mix

No SUDS in August
Since we had such a great turnout for the event in July, we’ll get together again September 18th back over at the Straight to Ale brewery. Don’t forget to register for the event on LinkedIn. July 17th at Straight to Ale
If you’ve never visited Straight to Ale Brewing, you’ve been missing out. Now’s your chance. They’ve offered to open the brewery for us next Tuesday night for a private event, so come share a pint with us on the 17th. We’ll get there around 5:30 and wind things down a little before 8.
Longtime SUDS supporters and Straight to Ale co-founders Bruce Weddendorf and Colin Austin will be there, so hopefully they can be talked into an impromptu tour for those interested.
